GT ULTRA by Guerilla Toss

1. Betty Dreams Of Green Men 03:29 – Funky post punk – it’s 1979 again and that’s a good thing.
2. Can I Get The Real Stuff 02:57 – Nice, if a little slick.  But it is 2017 I guess.
3. Crystal Run 02:57 – Channels some nice old school J-rock.
4. TV Do Tell 01:35 – Ditto all the above – this could go either way.
5. The String Game 03:15 – Talking Heads meets B-52s.
6. Skull Pop 05:01 – Back in J-pop realm ala Capsule or Hazel Nuts Chocolate.
7. Dog In The Mirror 05:03 – Slits meets J-Slits.
8. Dose Rate 04:40 – Slick electronica – give me some distortion!

2. Astragal (The Most Wonderful) 04:10 – Is it the Residents?  No.
3. Guido 04:23 – Synth driven kinda experimental electronica.
4. Embryo 04:12 – This is Enya.
5. Blood 05:15 – Piano and vocals – erm…ugh….
6. Morning Reckonings 03:57 – Way too straight – make it weird!  Make it interesting!

More Than A Facebook Friend (Cassette Album) by Yuko Yuko

1. Local Girl 02:48 – Heavy synth drums – could be some good J-pop but….maybe not….
2. Wait For The Apocalypse 03:12 – Liking the J-sound and the heavy bass – it’s a bit new wave though.
3. XXX 00:43 – Electro interlude – quite nice
4. Unpleasantly Wet 03:10 – This is weird and I like it, until it got a bit normal and dreary – punk up!
5. Two Boys 02:34 – Jangly synth pop – nice female vocals.
6. I’m Too Cool 02:36 – Dull synth pop – straight female vocals. Chorus picked up a bit.
7. Walbert’s Biking Thru 01:07 – Reminds me of some kind of XTC out-take.
8. Everything’s So Special About Me 02:41 – That drum sounds like a cardboard box.  Too much Duran Duran synth up in yr face.  The tweaky guitar is nice.
9. My Friend 00:46 – Filler track alert.
10. Heterosexual 03:08 – Too digital for my tastes.  I do like the droney noise in the background of this one though.
11. Ur Coming Closer Now 02:11 – These vocals remind me of 1985, the chorus reminds me of wanting to kill the disco kids in 1985.
12. Seventeen And Melting 02:34 – Things are starting to get a little samey, stylistically now.  Is this what Positive Noise sounded like?  Or the Associates maybe?
13. Lil Shawty 01:06 – Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark – right!?
14. Sharing Is Giving 03:18 – Bouncy Ween start but doesn’t go anywhere.  I want it to soar!
15. Hurry Up 00:40 – Half an idea.
16. More Than A Facebook Friend 03:38 – This hits a Half Man Half Biscuit stride – but not as fun, obviously.

1. 535 03:15 – Could be some rad electronica ready to explode!
2. What Is Art? (Baby Don’t Contradict Me) 02:08 – Could be some more rad electronica ready to explode!
3. Slow Car Crash 02:48 – Ugh those ten seconds were never ending….
4. I Showed Her Fireworks Down There (Ode To Thom) 05:40 – These didn’t get much better – Bad slow electro beats.
5. NYW 03:29 – Huh?  Suddenly gone indie.  But not good indie.
6. Diddle Till The End 02:12 – Too little too soft too late.

EP by Twigs

Track 1: Weak Spot – Weak ass electronic drums – rhythm isn’t too bad tho.

Track 2: Ache – Some nice ambient effects phasing in and out but can imagine it leading nowhere.

Track 3: Breathe – This one has an interesting crackly electronic rhythm – the weak sound is a positive in this case.

Track 4: Hide – A phased rhythm again, could be good.  This is not pop tho.
